Assistant Principal Terre Taylor Named DIAA Board Chair
6/18/2012 Assistant Principal Terre Alessandrini Taylor '87 was unanimously elected Board Chair of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA), becoming the organization's first female named to the position.
"Terre has impressed me from her first meeting as a Board Member," said Kevin Charles, DIAA Executive Director. "She has a knack for getting right to the heart of the matter and presenting the tough questions that need to be asked. She understands the purpose of education-based athletics and is a staunch defender of its core principals. We are especially pleased to have our first female chair in the history of the organization—after 40 years of Title IX, I think it's only fitting," he continued.
In addition to her duties as Board Chair, Taylor will also continue to serve as the Chair of the DIAA Softball and Rules and Regulation Committee.
"It is an honor to be chosen to help lead an organization that has such a positive impact on student-athletes, and I am grateful for the opportunity to further DIAA's mission alongside an incredibly talented and dedicated group of coaches and educators," said Taylor. "I firmly believe in the number of ways that the values learned from team athletics enrich the overall high school experience, and I look forward to serving DIAA in my new role."
