    Assistant Principal for Student Affairs

     
    The Assistant Principal for Student Affairs is a member of the administrative team responsible for the guidance of the student community by establishing a culture of true freedom rooted in virtuous living. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to create student events and implement policies in a way that embodies the Catholic understanding of what makes for true human flourishing, thereby giving the students an experience of a culture rooted in the Gospel.

    Functions and Duties:
     
    • Promotes Catholic traditions, culture and values throughout the school
    • Gives witness to Gospel values in all communications and interactions with all members of the school community
    • Engages in on-going faith formation opportunities
    • Uses the mission statement as the foundation for all planning and decision making and engages the school community to ensure a school culture that embodies the mission
    • Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to “For The Sake of God’s Children”
    • Is responsible for planning and implementing programs for the health, safety and welfare of the students
    • Supervises all extra and co-curricular activities in the school
    • Coordinates special programs and assembly programs for students
    • Oversees student discipline by fostering the values of a Catholic Christian community: self-control, kindness, courtesy, respect, cooperation
    • Tracks student attendance
    • Serves as the liaison with parents concerning serious discipline and attendance issues
    • Oversees Student Council and class activities
    • Oversees the Nurse’s Office and is responsible for the supervision of those within that office
    • Oversees the Offices of the Deans of Discipline and is responsible for the supervision of those within the offices
    • Supervises and evaluates the Athletic Director, moderators and coaches
    • Approves student field trips in consultation with the Assistant Principal for Mission and Academics
    • Coordinates the non-teaching duties of the faculty
    • Serves as a member of the Academic Council
    • Chairs the Pupil Personnel Team
    • Maintains confidentiality
    • Demonstrates school pride, a visible presence and active engagement
    • Creates an atmosphere of openness and availability with colleagues, students and families
    • Provides feedback that affirms and improves the teaching/learning process
    • Is responsible for the school calendar and scheduling of all events at the school
    • Annually reviews and revises the Student Handbook, the Moderator Handbook, and the Coaches Handbook
    • Contributes to the formulation and revision of all other policies/handbooks
    • Serves as the budget officer for assigned portions of the annual operating budget
    • Communicates clearly and regularly with all constituencies
    • Demonstrates effective organization, follow through and time management; adheres to timelines/deadlines
    • Assists the principal in interviewing, evaluating and selecting new members of the faculty
    • Attends School Board and committee meetings as needed
    • Assists with all strategic, enrollment management and institutional advancement planning
    • Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal 
                           

    Qualifications: 

    • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an area of study that supports the roles and responsibilities of an assistant principal
    • Five or more years of teaching experience (Catholic school experience preferred)
    • Hold or be eligible for Delaware, Maryland or Pennsylvania licensing/certification
    • Must be an active member of a Catholic parish. A pastor’s letter is required
     
    The Assistant Principal for Student Affairs reports to the Principal.
     
    This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that will include evening, weekend and overnight work.
  • Director of Campus Ministry

    Director of Campus Ministry

     
    The Director of Campus Ministry is a member of the administrative team responsible for all elements of liturgy, ministry and Catholic identity within the school. The Director of Campus Ministry directs retreat programs and works with other staff members to prepare all liturgies and prayer services, as well as providing pastoral care. The Director of Campus Ministry ensures that all operations of the school are in union with our Catholic teachings and faith.
     

    Responsibilities:

     
    • Develop and execute an annual plan for campus ministry;
    • Oversee the planning of school liturgies;
    • Oversee planning of prayer services, confessions and other spiritual life assemblies;
    • Communicate with local clergy regarding services to Saint Mark’s;
    • Coordinate all vocation awareness activities;
    • Develop and manage a core team of faculty and staff (on stipend) to carry out department programs;
    • Develop, administer, and direct all retreat programs;
    • Develop, administer, and direct auxiliary programs for the greater Catholic community in alignment with our school vision and mission;
    • Develop and manage a core team of student peer ministers;
    • Provide pastoral support as requested by students, faculty, and staff;
    • Collaborate with guidance and other departments regarding specific pastoral needs/concerns of students;
    • Collaborate with diocesan schools and the Office of Youth Ministry to provide faith formation activities on campus and in partner schools and parishes;
     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in theology, ministry or related field; A degree in a different field may be considered with significance experience and/or alternative certifications or training in ministry
    • Five or more years of experience in a direct ministry setting – parish, school or university
    • Experience in retreat planning
    • Large event planning experience preferred
    • Must be an active member of a Catholic parish. A pastor’s letter is required
     
    The Director of Campus Ministry reports to the Principal.
