    Explicit instruction in effective reading, study and test-taking skills, along with strategies training tailored to the students' individual needs. This course provides direct applications of learned skills to current course load as well as training in self-monitoring and self-initiating.

    This course develops key skills and strategies for mastering the SAT including: planning, increasing reading stamina, improving grammar and reading skills, improving reasoning and test-taking strategies, and managing test-anxiety. 
  • Emmaus Academic Coaching (College Prep)

    Juniors meet every day for the first semester.  Seniors meet every day for the first or second semester.  This course is designed to help students discover their individual learning styles and strengthen their reading, study, test taking, and writing skills.  Instructors work closely with each student's work load to optimize academic success.

  • Emmaus SAT Prep 8956

    This course reinforces and provides opportunities for the college and career bound student to plan, prepare, and organize for college and career readiness. SAT review and preparation is also incorporated based upon students’ individual needs. 
  • Emmaus Senior College Prep

    This course provides individualized goal planning dependent upon the needs of the students.  Students plan and execute their personal essay for college as well as naviagate the college search and application process.  Instruction also includes college survival skills: study skills, time management strategies, textbook reading, note taking strategies and learn to ineract with professors.  Students are also given guidance in organizing, preparing and studying for school finals.
  • Skills & Strategies 1

    This group instruction is a required course for qualifying freshman and sophomores.  These courses offer small group instruction to students who require assistance in reading comprehension and vocabulary skills, organizational skills, study skills, time management, and test taking strategies.  This course also incorporates critical thinking skills and stresses the reading writing connection.  In addition, students benefit from various reading applications that diagnose reading proficiencies and provide opportunities for students to become strategic readers. 

    Students will be tested upon completion of each level to determine grade level proficiencies.  Students who have not reached proficiency will continue skills instruction at the next level
